“I took my husband to Ashford Castle for his 50th birthday, and we both couldn’t have been more pleased with the decision. From the start, we enjoyed every aspect of our stay in this magical place: the first class welcome, live entertainment in the drawing room and the immaculate grounds were all magnificent. It was like taking a step back into history, and the service is second to none! Our sole reason for staying at the castle was for golfing. My husband gushed about the gorgeous 9 hole course, which was short and fair, and said the view from the 9th tee is amazing.
However, the highlight for us may have been the food. From having scones and tea in the drawing room (the clotted cream is to die for), to supper in the King George V dining room (you must try the steak and Guinness pie), everything we enjoyed was phenomenal. We loved our boat tour on the Lough and learned so much about the history of the area. If Martin is on board, prepare to shed a tear as this 85 year old man has one of the most beautiful singing voices I’ve ever heard. Throughout the entire stay, we felt like a king and queen, which was exactly what I wanted for his birthday.”

A holiday to enjoy the stunning scenery of Ireland while partaking in a multitude of adventures. Other than golfing, hiking, and horseback riding, the property has a falconry school where we learned to fly a Peruvian Harris Hawk! How unique!
Anyone of any age. There really is something for everyone.
Riding horses through the lush woods on the property. Our guide, Tom, was so attentive to us and informative about the history of the castle and the area along the river. That was something we’ll never forget.
Best time to go
We went in the summer and the weather was absolutely perfect. You’ll want to go when you can enjoy the sunshine!
There is currently construction work being undertaken at the Castle, which would start around 8 in the morning. However, the staff did offer us the option of changing rooms, and we took it up because we felt it would be quieter the next morning when we intended to sleep in.
Rooms start around $700 per night, depending on rates and availability.
