NEW YORK CITY
“I work in Manhattan, but live in Connecticut – where I also work from certain days of the week. When my partner and I were invited to attend a city based ceremony for a dear friend, I immediately thought to stay at the recently opened Baccarat Hotel. It’s been high on my list of new properties to check out, and the timing happened to work out perfectly. When I arrived at the hotel, conveniently located directly across from MoMA, I was blown away by the presentation and by the meticulously professional, yet warm staff.
The attention to detail at this property cannot be understated. Baccarat crystal elements are weaved throughout the entire hotel, whether it’s the sparkling ceiling, marble tables, or pleated-silk walls. Upon entering the Prestige Suite, I was welcomed with fresh flowers and a bottle of wine along with a handwritten note from the General Manager. (Always a lovely touch.)
If I hadn’t been pressed for time, I would have fully taken advantage of the complimentary blowout offered by the hotel’s Spa de La Mer (it’s the first one in North America, by the way!). I did make sure to check out the pool; which is a stunner - complete with daybeds and sumptuous changing areas.
Breakfast was a speedy but refined one, and drinks in the bar after our event was especially fun because a group of friends visiting the hotel from Hamburg were celebrating a 50th birthday in grand style...”

Staying in the heart of Manhattan at a brand new, ground up built hotel - where no amenity has been overlooked, this is it. It’s central to MoMa, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, and all the shopping one could ever want on Fifth Avenue.
Come with your partner; this is a sultry, romantic property which smartly is as great for business travel.
We were running a few minutes behind for an event just 10 blocks away – and I had 5” heels on! Finding a cab at 6:30 pm in holiday season is tricky – so great to know the hotel has an on-call vintage Citroën DS, and it’s available to take guests anywhere within 15 blocks of the hotel. Within a span of ten minutes, our chauffer had us dropped off - spectacular service.
Additionally, one thing you have to experience in NYC is the signature facial at Sisley on Bleeker Street. The brand’s NY flagship is beautifully decorated, bright and happy. Ask for Linda, the manager. She’s fabulous at what she does!
Best time to go
Any time is great to be in NYC; November & December when the city is really lit up and magical is special, but Spring and even the dead of Winter are wonderful at this property.
If you do plan to come during the holidays, book well in advance. The style is curtailed from over-the-top – but is nonetheless quite decadent.
Rooms start at $900 per night in the busy season, and vary with dates and availability.
