Hotel Monaco Alexandria
“Great little spot! So colorful and lively, and the hotel’s King Street location really puts you in the thick of it, next to the Metro Station and an easy walk from area offices, local restaurant, and bar scene. My room was cute and comfortable - fun and bright decor, super comfortable bed, and wonderful bathtub (loved the jacuzzi jets after a long run!). Returning to the hotel everyday after meetings at my client’s office was a pleasure – truly one of the most warm and inviting hotel experiences in the metro DC area. The little touches like cocktail hour in the lobby every evening, that dogs are welcome here! The amenities one can request from the front desk, the complimentary very high speed wifi…it is clear management of this group understand the needs of the business traveler. I’ll always stay here when in the area!”

Business or pleasure – a convenient location for getting to DC. Great option with the kids on a cultural trip.
Solo on biz, with family (kids are welcomed with a gift bag; your family dog gets treated royally with menu and goodies)
Every evening the hotel hosts a wine mingle in the lobby – nice touch. From 5-6pm the whole lobby turns into a social scene with guests and local business people. I’d come back from work, try a glass of wine the sommelier had on offer, and chat with some of the other guests before my dinner plans.
Best time to go
All year round, though fall and spring tend to be my favorites in this area.
This is a dog friendly hotel – but if you’re not a dog person, don’t be surprised to see pups in the elevator or lobby. 10 minute taxi from Washington National Airport; or 10 minute metro, then 10 block walk.
Starting at $195 per night. Check for room specials on their website.
