(45 min. north of Avignon)
“La Verriere is a little-known paradise in northern Provence. About a one and one half-hour drive from Aix-en-Provence, you will know you have arrived at this stunning domaine when you catch a first glimpse of the property from the upper road. Rolling acres of forty-year-old vineyards, olive groves, apricot orchards and lavender and sunflower fields greet you. Upon entering the winding road leading to the property, you will see the impressive buildings, a few of which date to the ninth century.
Meticulously restored to the highest standards, La Verriere now serves as a private estate and winery providing a perfect environment for exclusive professional retreats, creative workshops and celebratory family events. The manor’s three double guest rooms and four suites accommodate up to eighteen guests, including children. Additional off-site accommodation is available. Each guest room is stunning, decorated in Provencal themes and furnished with the highest standards of quality and comfort. The public rooms are architectural gems. My favorite is the Grand Vaulted Hall with its majestic but intimate feel, perfect for hosting cocktail and dinner parties, business receptions and intimate wedding gatherings and family reunions. There is really only one way to describe a stay at La Verriere: put it at the top of your 1000 places to see before you die!”

Need to Know
Be sure to take time to enjoy a private tasting of regional wines. The Winetasting Room is the perfect venue for this, restored to its original charm and complete with its ancient wine press. Also, a tour of the state-of –the-art winery is a must - there you will sample the distinctive, delicious Chene Bleu wines. My favorite is the Rose, with its unique and subtle combination of flavors. Distinctive, indeed! You will be pleased to know that the 100-acre vineyard with its Syrah, Grenache and other Rhone varieties are lovingly grown chemical-free and are bottled using bio-dynamic methods.
Relaxing in luxury, while enjoying the fabulous cuisine of the master chef, Fabrice, paired with the fabulous wines of Chene Bleu. Thank goodness there are ample ways to exercise! Heated infinity pool, hillside tennis court, fitness room, walking and hiking trails should help prepare your appetite for the next amazing meal! Off site, there are wine and gastronomy tours, personalized shopping itineraries, go-karting and quad biking, hot-air ballooning and golf.
We shared our time at La Verriere with another couple, dear friends of many years. Whether you be two, eight or eighteen, the warm and friendly staff will make you feel like a privileged guest in a beautiful private home.
I have two, both involving food, of course! Fabrice, the chef, served breakfast the first morning in the professional kitchen. While we waited for the other guests to arrive for breakfast, I had the special opportunity of watching him prepare fresh brioche and foie gras, to be served later at lunch. Lots of time for me to ask questions and compare brioche recipes! My second memorable moment was tasting that brioche and foie gras at lunch after a long and pleasant hike to the nearby medieval village of Le Crestet. Magnifique!
Best time to go
Spring, summer, autumn, winter…We were there in May but I would happily return anytime. Harvest time would be beautiful and with so many picturesque towns to explore and special planned excursions, there is something for everyone in every season.
