Lake Placid Lodge
LAKE PLACID, USA
“This was the perfect trip for me. Besides the obvious beauty of the area we absolutely loved our room and felt comfortable the moment we walked in. Our room looked out onto the lake which changed colors throughout the day. The staff went above and beyond to help us throughout our week long stay - they always addressed us by name, were truly concerned about how the stay was going and were there to plan excursions and offer answers for all of our questions. When we planned a hike around the area we asked where we should go and they helped us plan the entire day and even had backpack ready the next day, full of perfect picnic food.”

This is one of the best spots for fly fishing (1 of only 2 Orvis endorsed lodges in New York) and fishing for trout- every fisherman will love it! Other active travellers will love all that the Adirondacks have to offer like hikes, horseback riding, lake activities and even great activities for the winter months. Those more inclined towards relaxing will love taking a glass of wine out on the terrace and breathing in that fine mountain air while enjoying the lake and mountain views.
This is a great romantic getaway with a partner, wonderful for celebrating anniversaries, birthdays or other memorable events.
The food is absolutely impeccable but what really got us was the private dinner with paired wines in the wine cellar. Sommelier Christian Lacombe did a great job pairing and explaining the wines.
Best time to go
This is a great place year round with picturesque snow-covered trees surrounding the frozen lake during the winter months or for those looking to spend more time fishing, then definitely go after the snow melts and enjoy the warmer weather and biting fish.
Up to two dogs are welcome, however no children under the age of 12.
