Le Royal Monceau

“Designed by Philippe Starck, this hotel is all about art! Complete with it’s own gallery, book store, and even a personal art concierge – everywhere you turn is marked by wit and whimsy. Shining chandeliers. Wrought-iron staircases. Exposed brickwork. Plush carpets. Majestic screening room. Even an on-site herb garden that serves all three onsite restaurants. Be sure not to miss ''La Cuisine', a current hot spot for Paris locals. The rooms are delightfully comfortable pairing Art Deco designs with the latest technology (of course brilliantly concealed to not detract from the general aesthetic). The staff is top notch, and the Clarins spa is to die – so beautiful and ethereal, all water and mirrors, cream and pink. Quite frankly, I’ve always been a Ritz devotee, but now that it’s been renovated – this is my absolute top choice.”

Great for
A fun and chic Parisian getaway. Art enthusiasts will enjoy staying here with its displays of contemporary art throughout the public areas and garden.

With whom
A friend or lover. But good to note that this hotel is child friendly.

Memorable moment
Checking out some of Paris' little known art galleries introduced to me by Le Royal Monceau's art concierge Domoina de Brantes. She planned a personalized art-themed Paris itinerary for us and even arranged for the artwork in our room to change continuously throughout our stay. It was such a treat (and felt rather VIP) to be directed to such beautiful and unique art exhibitions apart from the usual Louvre or Musée d'Orsay.

Best time to go
There is never a bad time to visit Paris. In the summer I love June and July, and the entire autumn/Christmas period is just perfect. Winter is cosy and Spring goes without saying!

Be aware
You might feel an air of pretention staying here (a Chanel-clad clientele tends to do that), but know that you’ll never experience hauteur from the exceptional staff.

Price per night
From €888 per night.

Maria Luisa Concept Store

Karl Lagerfeld Concept Store
Newly opened, this is Lagerfeld’s latest project. Fashionistas around the world have been waiting with bated breath to shop the Karl Lagerfeld Paris line as well as his watches, books, accessories, etc. all available at this concept store.

La Dame De Pic
Three Michelin starred chef Anne-Sophie Pic's first Paris endeavor, this is an incredibly romantic and sophisticated restaurant pleasing to all the senses with feminine touches throughout. Each menu is uniquely named and flavored, each dish deliciously complex and stunning in presentation.

Les 110 de Taillevent
Anything bearing the name Taillevent you know will be good – but this brasserie style branch is an exceptional experience in wine pairing. Featuring 110 wines from the Taillevent vault, brilliantly paired with a menu that focuses on flavor and aroma – a foodie’s paradise.

Experimental Cocktail Club
Super swanky, this modern-day speakeasy is ideal for creative sips and stylish elbow brushing. Interiors mirror neo-baroque, atmosphere is kept vibrant by a nightly DJ, and lemongrass cocktails are among the top pick.

Le Coq
Exuding the Seventies era out of every pore – plush sofas, black walls, dim lights – this cocktail lounge takes old-fashioned spirits and re-invents them with a modern twist. Try a Kir Royal brightened up with liqueur D'Ambrette. Magnifique!
