CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
“Mont Rochelle is situated right on a hill top with the most incredible views of Franschhoek and the surrounding mountains. That was our first impression of the hotel and it set the tone for the remainder of our trip. Everything was simply stunning. It’s an idyllic and peaceful setting, yet perfectly close to town center if you want to wander. Not that we ever wanted to leave as the hotel is beautiful and has everything you could ever need. There are picturesque lawns to play games on such as croquet, chess, etc. We spent many nights enjoying a glass of wine over a “friendly” game of chess!
While we had planned to venture into town for a few meals, we ended up having all of our meals at the hotel, with no complaints. The breakfast spread was amazing (everything you can think of), and make sure you try the dangerously delicious sangria at the Country Kitchen Restaurant. At one point we decided we needed to work off some of our gluttony (we went on one too many wine tastings), and hiked through the hills and vineyards surrounding the hotel. You really cannot beat the views, and on a clear day you can see Table Mountain and the ocean. Spectacular.”

Three words: Relaxation and wine. This place is extremely quiet, which you won’t hear me complaining about, we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Your significant other. Waking up to the mountain views, you won’t find a more romantic setting.
We did a horseback-riding tour that took us to the cellar for a wine tasting. How unique! Tours can be arranged for both experience and novice riders, and it’s a must do.
Best time to go
We stayed in the off season and felt like we were the only ones there!
We tried to get a couples massage but over weekend, but the spa has only one masseuse which was a shame.
Rooms start at $300 per night, depending on rates and availability.
