“As an older couple, my wife and I wanted a getaway of extreme relaxation, in a place where we could feel at home, yet far away. That’s exactly what we got at Schloss Elmau. The location is extremely convenient for Munich, Innsbruck, and the Black Forest, but I would suspect most people wouldn’t want to leave the property. What really drew us was the number of state of the art spas the resort has to offer. We delighted in hot stone massages, steam baths, and finished in the relaxation area, and that was just the first day!
Before leaving the spa, we had already booked treatments for the next two days. The food is as exceptional as the spas, with a number of restaurants on the property. We tended to frequent La Salle, a buffest style restaurant with every cuisine you can think of. We also tried out Luce d’Oro, with has 1 Michelin Star. It was absolutely amazing. Schloss Elmaus is one of those places that you go and cannot believe it is real. It was the most relaxing vacation we’ve ever had, which is to say we’ll definitely be back.”

If you’re looking for a holiday to make you feel fresh, relaxed and healthy, this is it. We particularly enjoyed the amazing hiking trails all along the property. You can choose to walk for 20 minutes in the picturesque landscape, or make a day of it and hike to a town nearby. We particularly enjoyed having afternoon tea and 'cake of the day' in the tea lounge, which was always a treat after a long hike!
Other adults. Although children are allowed at the resort, this is a place where you want to be a little selfish and focus on yourself without have to worry about the kiddies.
Going for a rooftop swim in the pool overlooking the beautiful view of the mountains. We felt like we were in a novel!
Best time to go
Go in the summer. It’s absolutely beautiful and you’ll never want to go back inside, except to be in the spa!
There were quite a few children at the hotel, but other than seeing them at meal times, they were kept busy with activities.
Rooms start at about $600 per night, depending on dates and availability.
