Singita Lebombo

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, SOUTH AFRICA

“Stunning setting, relatively easy to get to with just 15 en-suite suites, a lap pool, wine cellar, gym, health spa, bar, library... You get the picture! Property is situated on a cliff top overlooking the N'wanetsi river. Suites are linked to one another via wooden planked walkways, lined with lanterns – so pretty at night.”
- Suzanne (Date Experienced: December 2009)

Great for
A relaxed vibe with plenty of time on safari plus more than just game viewing with property's amenities

With whom
A romantic spot; go with your honey

Memorable moment
Breakfast laid out buffet style on the banks of the N'wanetsi river dead center in front of 20+ hippos!

Best time to go
September to October offer the best and most regular game viewing. November to December is when lots of young animals are born. Weather is good all four of these months.

Be aware
Kids under 10 can only be accommodated if the property is hired out exclusively.

Room options
Décor is natural, but slick, think: wooden walkways and walls, with steel and glass elements. Outdoor showers (in addition to indoor) mean you can really immerse yourself in the environment.

Service & vibe
Knowledgeable and happy

Food
The main eating platform overlooks the Lebombo Concession, but staff will also set up tables in more unusual locations... I prefer the dinner atmosphere at their smaller lodge: Sweni, a 10 minute walk away.

Price
10,950 ZAR per person (about $1,452) including game drives, guided walks, some other activities and three meals a day.

To Do & See
Twice-daily game drives (with guides and trackers), or borrow a bicycle or take a guided walk to get an alternative view. Don't miss the wonderful on-site Singita Shop.

Sport & Activity
As well as safari-themed activities, mountain biking and archery are available.

Spa & Grooming
The Singita Village Spa has a menu of massages, stone therapies, reflexology and aromatherapy.

To Buy
Local artefacts, clothes and beading at the Singita Shop. Also includes a collection from designer Patrick Mavros.

Itinerary Idea
To see different parts of Africa and experience the different eco systems, organise to stay at more than one of the Singita or other top lodges.
