NEW YORK CITY
“It happens from time to time that the well-known Grand Dame hotels from NY to London to Paris and further afield end up disappointing. Not the case here. First of all, it is hard to beat their enviable curbside appeal on East 76th street / Madison Avenue; but mostly the old-world style meets panache factor is unparalleled in this town's hotel choices. The public spaces are grand yet intimate, rooms are generously proportioned and elegant, and the restaurant and Cafe Carlyle are venues many insider-New Yorkers frequent themselves. Gym, full-service spa, excellent breakfast: check check check. The refurb they are about to undergo will make this property sing; I look forward to returning to experience it all!”

Shopping, Culture, Easy Central park access, business trip. Here for a special celebration? Do not miss Cafe Carlyle live Jazz or Cabaret (Nightly: here's the schedule). A drink in Bemelmans Bar is a must if that's all you have time for during your stay. Best martini on the Upper East Side!
With/ without the family; on biz solo. One of the Big Apple's best hotels for a romantic, luxe weekend or few days. With kids in tow? Rosebuds is a multi-tiered offering to help make your stay more enjoyable and more memorable for the little ones!
We absolutely adored the John Pizzarelli Quartet in Cafe Carlyle. Here's the memorable scene: Side by side on a deep read leather banquet, we had this charismatic band right in front of us, dimly lit atmosphere, whilst thoroughly enjoying a lite dinner with fab white Burgundy and the topper: their 20-layer crepe cake. Yummmm!
Best time to go
Whenever travel takes you to NY. (I personally try my best to avoid summer in the city) The winter months would be a pleasure at The Carlyle being one can walk so easily from the property many places plus into a white-capped or covered Central Park!
The communications services are in need of some help/an upgrade. When busy in early evening, our experience was that neither the front desk nor concierge picked up the phone!
$550 and up per night
