The Gritti Palace
“Just opened after a 15-month amazing restoration, the Gritti Palace is more grand than ever (it was in need a of re-do). All the rooms have been revamped as well as the hotel’s art and antique collection. A little yet lovely Acqua di Parma spa has also been added too. This place is so Venetian-glamorous, it feels like living in a 15th century palazzo – only with all the modern luxuries we’ve come to expect from the best. From the moment we checked-in the entire staff seemed to know our name – no matter who we passed they would greet us with a smile and ‘Good afternoon, Mr. & Mrs Wood’ The location is ideal, on the most stunning stretch of the Grand Canal, a five minute walk from St. Marks but far enough from the bustle that you never feel part of that touristy crowd.”

A romantic stay, an anniversary or celebration.
Someone you love…
Dinner at the Club de Doge. The dining room is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen anywhere and when the Terrace is open that is the way to go! You’re literally eating right on the Grand Canal, overlooking all the activity – seriously stunning. The food is also sublime, typical Venetian fare with the right amount of sophistication. We loved our meal so much that we signed up for a private cooking class in the open kitchen off the restaurant. I find the terrace particularly romantic in the evening, but don’t miss breakfast here either.
Best time to go
Fall or spring. Avoid the summer (post July) when cruise ships dock up and the crowds flock in.
The only warning I can think to give is that the bathrooms are rather small, but really that is to be expected in such a historic Venetian hotel.
$550 - $6,300 a night.
