The Wauwinet

NANTUCKET, MASSACHUSETTS

“The Wauwinet was a haven for exactly what my husband and I were seeking early Fall: warm post-Summer sea and not too hot sun. Our deluxe bedroom had breathtaking views of Nantucket Bay – but we really lucked out on our first evening, indulging in champagne and oysters on the lawn at dusk right up to the canon sounding post a magnificent sunset. It couldn’t have been more picturesque.

Our days were spent adventuring and relaxing on one of the private beaches on both the Atlantic Ocean and Nantucket Bay. The property’s TOPPER’S restaurant is not to be missed, with a 1,450 + wine list, and excellent food – my husband can’t stop talking about the pork belly. Don’t miss the locally harvested Retsyo Oysters, cultivated only 300 yards from the property! While Nantucket has always been one of our preferred getaways in Summer with the kids, we now know our go-to spot each September will be The Wauwinet: without the kids!”

Great for
Getting away from the bustle of back to school season. We couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful escape than being at the far end of Nantucket Island. We started off of mornings with coffee overlooking the bay …. We also delighted in a cooking class with Chef Kyle Zachary of TOPPER’S, one of the nation’s most acclaimed restaurants. What an unforgettable experience!

With whom
Your partner. We weren’t celebrating a special anniversary, but just wanted a relaxing, romantic getaway to reconnect over a long weekend.

Memorable moment
Learning from Captain Rob how to haul in lobster traps from the Nantucket Bay, followed by a delicious, complimentary port and cheese hour in the library, cozied next to the fireplace. A must: the Nantucket Cobblestone Massage in the property’s spa.

Best time to go
May-June and September-October are the best times to go, in our opinion as this is when the resort’s best spring and fall activities are offered: cooking classes, bay cruises, eco tours and much more.

Be aware
The resort is 30 minutes away from town, but with complimentary hourly van and ferry shuttles to and from town it is made easy. Additionally, the property is entirely non-smoking, so smokers beware.

Price per night
Prices start a $400/night, depending on room and availability.
