White Elephant Village

NANTUCKET, MASSACHUSETTS

“It’s not easy figuring out where to go with a 1 year old! I knew there were a few criterion important to make for the right combination of solo time with my son, solo time with my boyfriend, and true relax time for me. Couldn’t be anywhere hot, nor too far away (it was my baby’s first flight!) and I knew the combo of sporty with a great town for strolls and restaurant choices was what we were after…

It had been 20+ years since I’d been on holiday to this charming and easy-going island with my own family; I was excited to return, get on a bike and explore! So pleased we chose this particular island, in the shoulder season and stayed at the wonderful VERY child friendly White Elephant Village. It was perfect for what we wanted and needed with the mix of bringing along our nanny too.

Upon arrival, there were a few diapers, two toys, and a little baby amenities kit in the crib they provided, which we thought was a very sweet touch. They even left a diaper pail in the bathroom and emptied it for us each day. My son shrieked with joy! When the concierge brought out a Radio Flyer wagon full of books and beach toys. You can imagine how thrilled we were to tote this to/ from the adorable pool all week.

The two-bedroom loft was beautiful and crisp: modern décor and plenty of space for the four of us with room to spare. A must have with baby? Full kitchen! The hotel pre-stocked the kitchen with those items I requested and even found his esoteric organic baby formula when we thought we were running low...

Within 3 minutes on foot and borrowed sport stroller you reach the adorable town, within 15-20 minutes at a face pace you are at the bay and ocean side beaches, including gorgeous Jetty beach. Bikes are on loan; BMW sport cars are also at the ready for those who book a 2-3 bedroom residence as we had. While there is room for improvement in certain aspects, I cannot more highly recommend this wonderful family retreat!”

Great for
An idyllic holiday, “away from it all”.

With whom
Family and or friends as a group – to mix up and make your own perfect relaxing, sporty & fun vacation.

Memorable moment
My top two are: Our solo bike ride along the coast in Sconsett with a stop off at magical Summer House and sunset drink and bites with baby at Jetty Beach! Magical.

Best time to go
Visiting during “shoulder" months (June and September) is much more peaceful and restful during those particular months as it’s much less crowded, yet still enough people to make for good restaurant ambience and town strolling, ice cream walks...

Be aware
There is no restaurant on-site, not even a bar. There are a couple restaurants a stone’s throw away and pool lunch service is available in a limited way.

Price per night
Starting around $1,000/night, depending on room and time of year.
