Sotheby’s Wine Service
NYC Upper East Side and worldwide via phone/email
“If you thought that the expertise and knowledge of the Sotheby’s Wine team was reserved for wine auction bidders, think again. Their knowledgeable team of senior wine experts is available for anyone throwing a dinner party or wine tasting, putting together a collection or selecting a wine-related gift. Since my good friend Michael started using the service this past Spring, we have turned many friends onto Sotheby’s Wine – it was time to share the find with all of my readers!”

Why it's Worth It
The Sotheby’s Wine team is led by one of the leading authorities on wine: CEO, Jamie Ritchie. Not only does he direct his team to continuously source and taste wines to ensure they only carry the highest quality, he also understands value for money. You will not be disappointed with this service.
Both the novice as well as seasoned collector who want advice on what to collect, how to manage their cellar or how and when to drink or sell their own inventory.
“Jamie and his team help me to manage my small but growing cellar by figuring out what I own, what I should drink in the near vs. long-term and what I should purchase based on my past purchases and preferences. The amount of time and care I receive feels like I’m a VIP to them – just part of their service.” (Michael Goodridge, current client)
Appointments & Correspondence
The retail store is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
In-person and phone appointments are scheduled in advance, during normal business hours.
Email back-forth occurs ongoing and is typically expeditious.
Shipping wine in the US can be restricted and state regulations mean that delivery is not available to all states. International shipments are available, depending on each location. If you buy in the summer, Sotheby’s Wine may keep your purchases until cooler weather to protect the quality of the wine.
Be ready to honestly answer questions about your collection, likes and dislikes – the more information you provide the better the advice you will get.
Sotheby’s Wines organizes exclusive, by-invitation-only events for some of its best customers. Recent events have included an Opus One wine tasting at the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan.
Start using Sotheby’s Wine and take advantage of their advice – it’s free. For additional services, such as cellar management, fees are based on the work required, but are competitive with other wine specialists.
