Las Balsas

“For starters, I did not want to leave Las Balsas... After just four days I had managed to wind down and properly relax. It’s a lovely combination of stunning setting (within Nahuel Huapi National Park of Argentine Patagonia - overlooking the lake - all guest rooms have a lake view) and relaxed atmosphere. I felt as if I were staying at the perfectly placed private villa of a close friend. Rooms are not stylish, but it didn’t matter as they are clean, comfortable and well-equipped - and there are few things more special than waking up to that view.

It is the perfect start to days of hiking or horse riding through the adjacent mountains, boating on the lake, exploring the small town of Villa La Angostura or relaxing in the (small) spa (book treatments in advance to ensure availability). Services are top - but don’t expect all the bells and whistles of a big-name, branded five-star.”

Great for
Truly getting away from it all - leave the cellphones at home!

With whom
A romantic partner - this is all about relaxing in nature with the one you love.

Memorable moment
Spending the morning riding to the top of a mountain - to be rewarded with a yummy picnic and spectacular views over the lake and park. The silence and scope of the scenery was immense and really put any stresses and worries into perspective.

Best time to go
The hotel is closed from May-July due to the rains, but August can also be wet, so stick to Autumn/Winter.

Be aware
There is a limited menu in the restaurant so, while the food is excellent, it can get a little uninspiring after a few days.
