The Breakers

“Ok... must admit, I’d had the impression for years this grand dame of a property was best suited for my parent’s generation. I was turned around when I went for a 3 day stay and found, yes, certainly, a classic large scale resort, but with it, an extremely comfortable, lovely and enjoyable property that has something for everyone from a generational perspective. Very high service — 1,200 staff! Fabulous tennis & golf centers, good gym, lovely spa with excellent practitioners and nothing obnoxious that is often associated with large hotels. All of the large, immaculate pools are ocean front: lap, kids, each one with music and relaxation. Four pools, well-equipped cabanas with wifi, your own ‘concierge’, outdoor shower and mini bar. Hear the waves crash in an ocean side room or suite, or spend less and face the grand interior courtyard. I’ll be back with my kids someday.”

Great for
Sporty, resting, reading, not driving, hearing the waves crash, long beach walks, spa indulgence

With whom
Multi-generational holiday and girls or guys long weekend would be fun

Memorable moment
The wait staff at breakfast the first day (and every other thereafter) knew I don’t eat dairy or wheat and presented me so kindly with great choices. Kind & cool at the same time.

Best time to go
November through April

Be aware
Some of the public spaces are very over-done and could be considered gaudy to some. Overlook it and just enjoy being spoiled by the contented staff.

Price per night
From $300
